Discover why it is the best city to live

It is not by chance that it has been chosen as the best city to live in the entire world by expatriates (Forbes, Nov 2022)  Mediterranean, authentic and with a rich history, Valencia is one of the most sought-after destinations in Europe.

Valencia is Spain’s third largest city.  It has the perfect size to enjoy everything a youngster needs to have fun, while having it all at their grasp. Valencia is very flat and has 160 kilometers of bike lanes, so you can reach most places in just 10 minutes (by bike or metro).

Valencia is by the sea. It has 19 kilometers (12 miles) of beautiful beaches which can be reached by bike or public transport. The sea can be warm enough for swimming as early as April and as late as November.

Valencia is sunny. With mild winters and hot summers, it enjoys a temperate Mediterranean climate with an average annual temperature of 17 ºC (62 ºF). The temperature rarely drops below 10 ºC (50º F) and it only rains for a few days during the year, mainly in autumn and early spring.

Valencia is history.  Founded in the year 138 B.C. Valencia’s heritage has been shaped by the Romans, the Moors and the Christians. Visitors find Renaissance buildings such as the Valencia Cathedral from the 14th century and Modernist buildings such as Valencia North Station.

Valencia is fun. It is home to the most popular fiestas in Spain: Las Fallas, a festivity that combines tradition, satire and art. A “falla” is a monumental set of colorful paper mache figures. Every year around 392 Fallas are set up in Valencia’s streets during this celebration. A whole week where valencians celebrate life with music, fireworks, flowers, parades, street markets,…

Valencia is healthy. It is the birthplace of paella, and rice is prepared here like nowhere else in the world. Additionally, it is at the heart of a county called La Huerta (the orchard), a rich agricultural area where fruits and vegetables taste real, and fish and seafood are fresh. Because of its hours of light, long life expectancy, low pollution rates and limited obesity levels, Valencia has been named the healthiest city to live in the entire world by the British financial comparison service (Money, Jan 2022).

Valencia is safe. It is ranked among the safest cities in Europe, with a very low crime rate.  You can peacefully walk the streets of the city even at night. Valencia’s average criminality rate is 29, while in the USA this rate is 48, 49 in Barcelona and 56 in Paris. The homicide rate in USA is 6,5 people per 100.000 inhabitants, whereas in Spain is 0,6; that is more than ten times less.
